Booking Conditions

Prices are in sterling per property per week or per short break as marked.

A short break is a three-night midweek/weekend break.  Breaks of four, five, six nights are also available just email reception@downecottages.com  to obtain a price.

With a two-week break, the price of the second week (i.e. the lower priced week) is reduced by ten per cent.

A deposit of twenty per cent of the rental is payable when booking your holiday. We then send written confirmation of your holiday and the balance of your holiday cost will be due no later than four weeks before your holiday starts.

The cottage is not available until 4.00 p.m. on the first day and you must leave the cottage by 10.00 a.m. on the last day of your holiday.

The number of people (other than a very young child) staying in a cottage must not exceed two per bedroom. Cots and high chairs are available if requested at the time of booking.

We regret that, for the comfort of other guests, pets are not accepted at Downe Cottages, and there is no smoking in the cottages.

We are unable to refund a deposit or a full rental paid for a cottage in the event that the person booking the cottage wishes to cancel unless we are able to re-let the cottage to a third party for the same period. The reason is very simple. We have a small number of cottages and when we accept a booking we decline other bookings.  We cannot afford to refund monies paid unless the cottage is subsequently let to a third party for the same period. We always try to relet the cottage in the event that a booking is cancelled and we will refund monies paid to us in the event that we do relet the cottage for the same period. We also try to reschedule a booking where this is possible without real cost to us but in some cases this is obviously not possible (e.g. a booking in mid-summer cancelled on short notice)
