The Location of Downe Cottages

Directions from Bideford

1. Take A39 at Bideford towards Bude.
2. Twelve miles after Bideford, and immediately after the roundabout at Clovelly Cross, turn right on the B3248 to Hartland.
3. Go straight through Hartland and leave on the road to Hartland Quay and Stoke.
4. Half a mile out of Hartland take the first right (immediately before Hartland Abbey) which is signposted towards Berry.
5. Follow this single-track road over a little stone bridge, up a steep hill and then round a sharp right hand bend. (Berry is signposted to the left at this bend, you follow the road to the right.)
6. The entrance to Downe Cottages is immediately on your left. Upon arrival you take the first drive through the wooden gate (which is usually closed to keep sheep and cattle out of the gardens) and follow the drive into the garage. Please park your car in one of the parking bays marked in the garage.
7. Leave the garage through the right hand door diagonally opposite the main entrance to the garage.
8. This door leads you past Jasmine Cottage and into the central courtyard of Downe. Reception is through a Georgian glass door and is signed.
9. You will be welcomed upon arrival at Downe.

Directions from Bude

1. Take A39 at Bude towards Bideford.
2. Twelve miles after Bude turn left on the B3248 to Hartland.
3. Turn left when B3248 joins Fore Street in Hartland (by the Anchor). Go along Fore Street and through Hartland. Leave Hartland on the road to Hartland Quay and Stoke.
4. Half a mile out of Hartland take the first right (immediately before Hartland Abbey) which is signposted towards Berry.

1. Leave M5 at Junction 27 and take A361 towards Barnstaple.
2. Take A39 at Barnstaple towards Bideford and Bude.
