We believe that the best evidence of the quality of the cottages at Downe and the superb holidays that our visitors have at Downe is the fact that so many of our visitors are repeat visitors. Every so often we have “a turnover day” when every visitor coming to Downe that afternoon is a repeat visitor. Every such day we regard as a real achievement.
Our aim is to develop a business which has a minimal requirement for advertising because the vast majority of our business is in the form of visitors coming back to Downe. To that end we always treat every first time visitor as someone who we want to return to Downe and we do everything to ensure that their cottage and their holiday is perfect.
Another indication of the quality of the cottages is our vsitors’ comments about Downe and their scoring of Downe at the end of their holiday on our feedback form. Below are the average scores that our guests have awarded the cottages on feedback forms filled in at the end of their stays since January 2000.
We are tremendously proud of those scores and of the compliments paid to us.

Below is a selection of comments from our visitors’ books in the cottages and from emails and letters of thanks to us after the visit. They are merely a small selection of the many, many compliments we receive about Downe. We have never yet had a disappointed visitor. The only possible negative is something over which we have no control – the British weather – and even then in practive very, very few holidays at Downe have been spoilt by bad weather because the accommodation is so lovely and our guide to wet weather days is so helpful.

We always take cottage holidays and have yet to find any which are in the class of Downe. Jeremy & Lynda are the perfect hosts & have really succeeded in creating something special here. A wonderful relaxing week in a beautiful and well equipped cottage. We recommend Reflexology and Stone at Downe in the Health Spa and the meals delivered to your cottage. We will return to carry on exploring such an interesting and beautiful area. We have stayed in many cottages in the UK and this cottage exceeds all others. The attention to detail and the warm welcome from Jeremy and Lynda exceeds other holidays. Thank you for letting all of us stay at Downe Cottages. It’s absolutely lovely in the Cottage. The playground: Robert and I have really, absolutely, extremely loved having the red swing, blue swing and the slide. The television is brilliant. After some previous disappointments, we were put off cottages for a number of years until last year when we found a cottage that we thought couldn’t be beaten. We were wrong! We have been so very pleased with Downe and all the little touches Jeremy & Lynda have included to make our stay so enjoyable, from the wine on arrival, the care taken with the grounds, to the size of the bedroom and the power shower.

Jeremy and Lynda have obviously put a lot of thought into the concept of a perfect self-catering holiday in a beautiful and secluded location, it shows in all the little touches like the wine and chocs on the table, the well-equipped kitchen and high standard of all the fittings and furnishings.

Days on the beach followed by the Gourmet Meals have been wonderful. Everyone should try these at least once, although the decision on what to choose would be difficult! We stayed four nights and had two amazing meals delivered to our door. We can thoroughly recommend this unique service – at least we haven’t come across it before – especially after an aromatherapy treatment.
