We have just returned from a four night break in Honeysuckle Cottage. It was our first as a young family. I do not normally write reviews but as Downe was the best holiday rental we have used in the UK I felt obliged to comment. The cottage was first class. The decor is traditional as befitting the barn style and beautifully done. There is total attention to detail. It was spotlessly clean and flawlessly equipped. Very family friendly, they could even happily supply us with a blender! Bed incredibly comfy, limitless supply of wood for wood-burner. The spa is a real added bonus and the gym impressively equipped. The location is lovely, Hartland is very beautiful and tranquil and the walk to the coast is short. Perhaps best of all is the attitude of the owners Jeremy and Lynda and their staff Alan and Claire. They do all they can to optimise your holiday whilst respecting your privacy. We could not make our original dates due to illness and they were happy to rearrange at short notice. Alan and Claire were there to welcome us when we arrived, with the log burner lit and happy to answer questions. All round these cottages are five star and I think good value. We hope to return.

My wife and I spent four days at Honeysuckle Cottage in September (2015) and were delighted with both the cottage and the location. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very cosy – ideal for a relaxing break! The close proximity to the coast and countryside meant that we were able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings without having to use the car. We would certainly recommend Downe Cottages to friends and family and look forward to returning!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Vine Cottage, the log fire in the evenings was a treat. The cottage was wonderfully clean and well-equipped and the welcome pack was a nice touch. We found Downe Cottages to be quiet and peaceful and an excellent base for exploring North Devon. But most of all the tranquillity was balm to the soul…
